With my background as a retired Harley-Davidson engineer, I decided to buy the bike as a worthwhile summer project. So, I took it on, with one goal in mind: to rebuild the bike carefully, with safety, quality, and attention to detail as top priorities. Vehicle Detail • Milwaukee-Eight 117ci engine • 14,500 miles • New front and rear wheels, tires, bearings, brake rotors, TPMS sensors • Many new Harley-Davidson parts: Bent or broken components were replaced with new parts purchased directly through Harley-Davidson online. • Beautiful factory Blue Burst finish: Much of the motorcycle was repainted in its original factory color. Two coats of color followed by three coats of clear, then carefully cut and buffed to achieve a deep, glass-like finish. Professionally painted by Gary Buckley of Metalrodika Customs in Cottage Grove, WI • Brake system completely refreshed with the ABS system flushed and cycled by Harley-Davidson of Madison, WI • Extensive restoration: Components with minor road rash were repaired and refinished. As a retired Harley-Davidson engineer, with both Chassis and Powertrain experience, I felt as though I needed a worthwhile summer project.
