How it works

Project cars. Real community. Fair auctions.

Last updated: July 15, 2026

What is it?

Sell My Project is a marketplace for project cars and custom builds. Builders document their work in a Garage, share progress on The Lot, and set a Launch Price when they're ready to sell. Buyers follow builds, join Crews, and bid in timed 72-hour auctions with verified sellers — not anonymous listings.

Why a Garage?

Your Garage is your builder home on SMP — a public shop wall for your builds, updates, and reputation. It's free forever. Buyers find you there, trust your work, and join your Crew before an auction goes live.

Selling a build

Five steps

From first photo to hammer drop — and you pay nothing, ever.

1Start a GarageYour shop wall — builds, badges, crew. Free forever.
Set it up once: name, town, a banner if you want one. Then add builds and post updates over time. Your garage is permanent and never costs anything.
2Post your buildTwo phone pics gets you started. No price needed.
Photos, what it is, and the story if you feel like writing one. Add the Window Sticker (title status, subsystem status, money in, photos, Q&A, history) and updates as you build — every update grows your Trust Score, and documented builds sell faster and higher.
3Grow a CrewReal buyers follow your build while you wrench. Bigger Crew, better price
Anyone can follow your build. Joining the Crew is stronger — each member counts toward your goal. Most Crews take days or weeks to build, not hours. When enough people join, a 72-hour auction begins. You don't need to watch the site constantly; your Crew gets notified when things move.
4Launch PriceThe price you'd let it go for. Your floor, not a wish.
Set your Launch Price whenever you're ready — it's the opening bid, and nothing happens until your crew goal is met. When the first verified buyer Sends It, the clock starts. Change your mind before that? Nothing's locked.
572 hours on the blockVerified bidders. Anti-snipe clock. Binding at close.
Three days, public bids, visible clock. Late bids extend the clock so nobody steals it at the buzzer. Your Launch Price is the floor — bids meet it or beat it. At close, the sale is binding. Sellers pay nothing — ever.

Buying a build

Four steps

Evaluate the build, not the post. Win it on your terms.

1Find a build, join the CrewWatch it grow. Be first when it goes live.
Browse live builds, follow the ones you'd want in your driveway. Joining the Crew counts toward the crew goal — and Crew gets a 5-minute head start when the auction opens.
2Evaluate the build, not the postWindow Sticker (title status, subsystem status, money in, photos, Q&A, history). Build diary. Trust Score.
Every project shows its documentation: the honest build sheet, months of dated updates, and a Trust Score that grows with proof. You're not guessing from five photos and a prayer.
3Send It or bidVerified buyers only. Binding at close.
You're bidding to buy. Binding at close. 5% buyer fee, capped at $5K. Standard increments, jump bids allowed, late bids extend the clock.
4Close the deal directPayment and title happen between you and the seller.
SMP connects you and keeps the record — we don't hold the money. You and the seller coordinate payment, title, and pickup or shipping. Both sides see verified identity at close.
