Do I have to sell anything?
No. Create a free garage, share your projects, and follow other builders. Put something up for sale only when you’re ready.
What does it cost?
Joining, posting, and selling are free. Buyers pay 5% of the agreed price when the seller accepts an offer, capped at $5,000. Browsing and asking questions are free.
What can I post?
Finished cars, unfinished projects, and build updates are welcome. Add photos or videos to share your progress. List individual parts in the parts section of Classifieds.
What’s the difference between Shop Talk, Garages, and Classifieds?
Shop Talk is the community feed. Your garage holds your projects and updates. Classifieds is where you browse cars and parts for sale.
Can I find parts for a car I’m looking at?
Look for suggested parts from other garages on the project page, or search Classifieds. Suggestions are a starting point—confirm fit and condition with the seller.
Can I ask questions before buying?
Yes. Use Ask the seller on the listing. Questions and replies are public, so everyone can learn about the condition, work completed, and what still needs doing. Don’t post contact details or payment instructions in the thread.
How do I buy a classified listing?
Choose I’ll take it at the asking price, or use Suggest a price privately to send a different number. Review the price and buyer fee before you commit. The seller can accept or decline; acceptance triggers the buyer fee charge.
When can I message the seller privately?
Use Suggest a price privately to send an offer and a note to the seller. General private sale chat opens after the seller Accepts and the buyer fee is successfully paid. Use it to arrange payment and pickup. Questions about the car stay in the public listing thread.
Who handles payment and pickup?
You pay the seller directly for the car or part. Agree on pickup or shipping together. SMP collects the buyer fee; it doesn’t hold the purchase money or arrange transport.
What if I change my mind?
Buyers can back out before the seller Accepts. Sellers can decline or stop listing a project for sale. If the seller has already Accepted, contact support about the next steps and applicable fee policy.
Does SMP inspect cars or guarantee parts will fit?
No. Check the condition, fit, and seller’s information before committing. For a car, inspect the title and VIN too. A listing or parts suggestion is not an inspection or guarantee.
How do I report a problem?
Use the listing’s report option or contact support with a link and a short explanation. Don’t share passwords or verification codes. If something feels wrong, pause before paying.
